A rich and well balanced cadet life includes a comprehensive athletic program that builds both a strong body and a student’s self confidence carrying with it varying degrees of honor and responsibility representing Howe and the cadet corps. The athletic program, at Howe, prepares students for a lifetime of physical fitness. Students must participate in an interscholastic sport in the fall, winter, and spring. A student’s ability to compete, however, is determined by their PAR, conduct status and grade point average.
With the many different sports offered at Howe, there is something for everyone. Sports are available to cadets in both the Middle School as well as the High School. As important as sports are to young people, Howe wants to give every student an opportunity to participate and to excel.
In the Middle School, cadets may choose from either cross country and soccer in the fall. During the winter, there is 7th/8th grade basketball. Wrestling is also offered for male cadets. In the spring students may choose from either golf or track.
High School cadets have 11 different sports from which to choose. Football, soccer, boys’ tennis, and girls’ volleyball are offered in the fall. Boys’ varsity and junior varsity basketball, girls’ basketball, wrestling, and Tri-County Rifle League are offered in the winter. Spring brings baseball, girls’ softball, golf, and track.
